CURRENT NEEDS

We are looking for contacts who can facilitate our communication with the Ministry of Health and other competent authorities, in order to better understand their needs and provide the necessary support.

COORDINATION & CONTACT

  • Contact email: contact@covid19response.gr
  • Project Coordinator: Nikolaos Tsoniotis
  • Voluntary Action Coordinator: Dimitrios Kourtesis

SOFTWARE DISTRIBUTION

  • TSoftware and questionnaires developed by Covid-19 Response Greece volunteers for this project are distributed free-of-charge to specific authorities as deemed necessary, under the terms of Creative Commons (4.0 International License) Attribution-NonCommercial.
  • Any interested party who intends to make use of the aforementioned software and/or the questionnaires must inform the Covid-19 Response Greece coordination team at contact@covid19response.gr, in order to be granted a special license.

SOLUTION 1: COVID-19 SELF-ASSESSMENT FORM

1. FORM DRAFTING

The self-assessment form is based on the equivalent form published by the health authorities of Alberta, Canada. [COVID Self Assessment]. That questionnaire was translated into Greek and modified accordingly.

In this form, the user is prompted to answer certain questions and, depending on the answers, provide further clarifications. After the questionnaire is completed, the system suggests appropriate actions to the user, based on information gathered in each step of the process. These actions may range from self-management of the disease to seeking immediate assistance at a suggested hospital.

Our goal is to enable self-management for mild symptoms and to decongest the HNPHO emergency line, 1135.

  • Translation and customization : Nikolaos Tsoniotis (Ideas Forward), Christina Karamanidou (INAB, CERTH)
  • Support: Project Self-Assessment & Monitoring Team, COVID-19 Response Greece

3. BRIEFING

TWe have contacted Dr. Helena Maltezou, Infectious Diseases Specialist, department head at the Hellenic Centre for Diseases Control and Prevention, and have brought the project to the attention of NPHO. We are awaiting further contact.

SOLUTION 2: SYMPTOMS SELF-MONITORING SOFTWARE

1. SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT

The software developed by Covid-19 Response Greece records the user’s symptoms and their intensity, in order to:

  1. Inform the user of appropriate actions.
  2. Establish a timeframe in which to contact the user, re-evaluate their symptoms and, once again, suggest an appropriate course of action.

Our goal is to enable each user to self-manage their symptoms so that the traffic of the emergency line, 1135, is reduced.

2. CONTRIBUTOS

  • Research: Nikolaos Tsoniotis (Ideas Forward), Petros Apotsos (REDOC)
  • Support: Project Self-Assessment & Monitoring Team, COVID-19 Response Greece

3. BRIEFING

We have contacted Dr. Helena Maltezou, Infectious Diseases Specialist, department head at the Hellenic Centre for Diseases Control and Prevention, and have brought the project to the attention of NPHO. We are awaiting further contact.

SOLUTION 3: CONTACT TRACKING APPLICATION

1. TRANSLATION AND CUSTOMIZATION OF TRACKING APPLICATIONS

The Covid-19 Response Greece team is studying tracking applications used in other countries, assessing their functionality and their potential for adaptation to Greek standards.

  1. Shield/Hamagen - Israel

This app monitors the user’s movement in real-time, using their phone's location services. The data are stored locally on the user’s device. The application informs the user whether they have been in close proximity to a confirmed case, in which case it suggests necessary actions. The relevant information is also updated by nursing staff based on confirmed cases that are hospitalized.

In addition, the user can voluntarily share their location history with the Ministry of Health or the NPHO, so that if they are confirmed to have contracted the virus later on, other users who have been in close proximity with them can be informed in real time.

    • The app is available here.
    • Full source code can be found here.
  2. TraceTogether - Singapore

This app monitors the user’s movement in real-time, based on the proximity between devices (via bluetooth). The data are stored locally on the user’s device. The application informs the user whether they have been in close proximity to a confirmed case.

In addition, the user can voluntarily share their location history with the Ministry of Health or the NPHO, so that if they are confirmed to have contracted the virus later on, other users who have been in close proximity with them can be informed in real time.

    • The app is available here.

2. CONTRIBUTORS

  • Customization: Lazaros Penteridis (Come Together)
  • Translation: Katerina Argyri (Senior Biomedical Engineering Researcher, ICCS)
  • Support: Project Self-Assessment & Monitoring Team, COVID-19 Response Greece

3. BRIEFING

We have started translating and modifying the Shield/Hamagen app to test its functionality.

We are awaiting TraceTogether to publish its app’s source code.

Both applications will be tested and, depending on post-test results, presented to the Ministry of Health and the NPHO, along with a report comparing their pros and cons.
